A controlled burn earlier this week at the Circle Nine Ranch, near the Boulder Fish Hatchery 15 miles south of Pinedale, reignited Wednesday morning due to high winds. Sublette County Unified Fire responded with personnel from the Boulder, Pinedale and Big Piney battalions and confined the fire to 8 acres of grass and sagebrush on private and state lands. No structures burned. Anyone planning a controlled burn is asked to call Sublette County dispatch.
According to Mike Petty, fire information officer, when a passerby reports a fire, response may be escalated if the fire is not listed as a controlled burn.
