Western Governors calling up youth involvement

WYOMING – A philanthropic arm of the Western Governors’ Association is accepting applications for the 2022 Western Governors’ Leadership Institute.

The Western Governors’ Foundation is accepting applications until Feb. 15. Applications and guidelines are available at westgov.org/foundation/leadership-institute. All applications should be sent to leadershipapplication@westgov.org by 11:59 p.m. on Feb. 15. Winners will be announced in May.

“The Leadership Institute was born of the governors’ passion for leadership and dedication to the future prosperity of their communities,” Jim Ogsbury, president of the Western Governors’ Foundation, said. “Western Governors are excited to impart lessons of leadership to a new generation.”

The Western Governors’ Leadership Institute is designed to recognize and reward the effective exercise of leadership across the West and promote its future development. One young adult and one alternative are selected every year to represent each western state and territory at the WGA annual meeting and leadership forum. All expenses are paid for by the foundation.

The leadership forum will be July 24-25 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. The annual meeting will immediately follow on July 26-28.

Delegates must be a permanent resident of a western state whose governor is an active WGA member and be between the ages of 21 and 25 on July 24.

More information available at westgov.org/foundation, and scholarship opportunities are available by contacting solsen@westgov.org.
