Water search continues for missing Pinedale man

Posted

Tip Top Search and Rescue (TTSAR), the Sublette County Sheriff's Office (SCSO), and Wyoming Game and Fish continued their search for missing Pinedale resident Richard "Rick" De Ruiter Zylker, who was last seen on Aug. 24 while swimming in the Moosehead Bay area of Fremont Lake with co-workers and friends.

Zylker, 52, was celebrating with the Ridley's Family Market group when he disappeared below the water's surface. Sublette County Sheriff KC Lehr said Zylker is presumed to have drowned or died from as of yet unknown medical causes.

The area being searched ranges in depth from 150- to 300 feet.

Since Wednesday, TTSAR Captain and volunteer John Linn and his crew have covered an area of approximately 1,800 by 2,500 feet.

Speaking on behalf of the Sheriff's Office and TTSAR, Sheriff Lehr thanked Zylker's family for their support and understanding, his co-workers at Ridley's and Ace Hardware "for providing lunches and valuable information which has aided thus far in the search," and to the public for "their outreach of support and prayers, as well as respecting the search area and steering clear as to not disrupt our search boat and crew."

The SCSO has received an outpouring of calls from volunteers willing to assist in the search, but at this point there is enough help and resources to continue search efforts.

Ridley's store owner Mark Ridley, who was at the Pinedale store on Thursday, declined to comment out of consideration for Zylker's fellow employees and family.

The Upper Fremont Lake Boat Dock remains open to the public. The SCSO asks anyone headed to the inlet to stay toward the west end of the lake when approaching Moosehead Bay and try to keep wake at a minimum.
