Tornado touchdown

Joy Ufford photo A short-lived tornado on Friday, April 26, destroyed the Zumpfe family’s home and camper in Marbleton.

Crews removed sheet metal from power

lines and dozens of emergency personnel checked nearby homes for gas

leaks and injuries, which were none. Then work began to help clear more

debris. The National Weather Service determined the ‘weak’ tornado

was moving 80 mph when it touched down at 510 Rakestraw Ave. and

continued for 1/10th of a mile at 12:30 p.m.
