SUBLETTE COUNTY – A research team from the University of Wyoming is searching for Sublette County hay meadows to conduct a soil monitoring study in western Wyoming, and Sublette County happens to be the perfect area!
The study will only require a handful of 1-inch-wide cores to be taken across your hay meadow a few times throughout a two-year period and will help the team understand nitrogen recycling in high-elevation flood-irrigated hay meadows.
This will allow them to address the best ways to maximize yield in western Wyoming hay meadows with minimal intrusion to your land. I would be helping collect samples and introducing the grad students involved. I think it would be a great way to see how we can improve hay production and hopefully reduce input costs.
