LARAMIE – The 2022 girls’ swim season culminated with the 3A State Swimming and Diving Championships in Laramie on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 3-4.
Thursday featured preliminary rounds, with the top 12 in both individual events and relays advancing to the finals on Friday. In diving, the top 16 competed in the semifinals with 12 making the cut to the finals.
Four athletes on Sublette County’s young team qualified to compete at the State Tournament this year – seniors Morgan Grossman and Rayne Wheeler in swimming events and seniors Rhonda Auradou and Lilly Joseph in diving.
The team took five alternates to fill spots on relays – junior Addy Levitt and sophomores Jolynn Jones, Alexis Thompson, Maggie Walker and Emma York.
Regardless of numbers, athletes on the Sublette County combined swim team fearlessly dove into the competition, making waves against the best of the best from significantly larger squads.
Sublette County finished 13th overall, beating Newcastle.
“I am very proud of our young team,” said Co-Head Coach Kursty Day. “This year, we only had four girls qualify for State. These four did their very best in their individual events. My hope for the Sublette County swim team is that we will continue to grow in strength and be ready for next season. I wish all our athletes the best in their upcoming seasons – basketball, wrestling and indoor track.”
Grossman broke into the finals in the 200-yard freestyle, bagging 12th place on Friday with a time of 2 minutes, 14.22 seconds.
Levitt, Walker, Jones and York made the finals in the 200-yard medley relay. The team took 11th place on Friday, clocking in at 2:18.43.

In diving, Auradou placed 16th in the preliminaries with 121.45 points following five dives. She moved up to 15th place in the semifinals, tallying 184.50 points after eight dives.
