PINEDALE – High school golfers endured cold temperatures and brisk wind last Friday as the Pinedale High School golf team hosted Kemmerer, Lyman and Star Valley out at Rendezvous Meadows Golf Course for the opening tournament of the spring season.
Despite the adverse conditions, local golfers fared well among the competition.
On the boys side, junior Karlon Ballard placed fourth overall, while teammate Tommy LaBuda placed seventh overall. Freshman Mitchell Pape also had a strong showing to kick off the season, placing 11th overall.
On the girls side, senior Shelby Pennock earned a fourth-place finish, while sophomore Hannah LaBuda finished just behind in fifth place.
According to Pinedale head coach Luke Myszewski, the team was down several athletes due to other school activities going on simultaneously.
“We were missing several players who had conflicts with state art, music festivals and other things that keep the kids busy this time of year,” Myszewski said. “But, I think we had a good outing nonetheless.”
The team continues its spring schedule with a meet today down in Kemmerer.
