Retiring SCSD1 faculty members recognized

PINEDALE – A total of 125 years of educational experience will walk out the doors at the end of the school year as five dedicated Sublette County School District No. 1 staff members retire.

The SCSD1 Board of Trustees recognized each of those retirees at its May 12 meeting, presenting them with plaques of appreciation.

“These folks put their hearts and souls into the district and will have an effect on kids that will last decades,” said board chairman Jamison Ziegler.

Pinedale High School English teacher Jasper Warembourg is stepping down after 29 years with the district.

Students at PHS frequently named Warembourg a “favorite teacher,” Ziegler said.

“Mr. Warembourg did not teach (students) what to think, he taught them how to think,” Ziegler said. “He will leave a big hole in the district.”

Larry Proud, woods and vocational agriculture teacher at PHS, will retire with 27 years of service under his belt. Proud “gave his heart and soul” and had a profound and positive impact on students, Ziegler said.

“Mr. Proud taught students what the most important things in life were,” Ziegler added.

Ron Ruckman taught science at Pinedale Middle School for 23 years and will “leave a gap” at the school, Ziegler said.

“I know everyone enjoyed Mr. Ruckman and exploring science with him,” Ziegler remarked.

Beth Booth, a speech-language paraprofessional at Pinedale Elementary School, served the district for 20 years.

“I know she enjoyed every single year and every single kid she worked with,” said Ziegler. “She helped students discover themselves and be the best they can be.”

Following 26 years working with students at SCSD1, PES elementary instructional facilitator Maura Williams is also retiring. Williams was unable to attend the meeting and will receive her plaque at a later date.

Ziegler, the trustees, teachers, administrators, parents and students present at the meeting gave a round of applause in Williams’ honor.
