Halloween and Harvest events scheduled throughout county

Friday, Oct. 26

• The Pinedale Aquatic Center, 535 N. Tyler Ave., is hosting its 11th annual horrifying Halloween event, The Haunting, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the PAC. This haunted house is very scary and is not recommended for kids under 8. Admission is $5 per trip – because you might want to get creeped out twice.

Saturday, Oct. 27:

• The annual Wild Eats & Sweet Treats contest and dinner is at the Daniel Community Center, 18 School House Lane. Cooks and bakers are invited to enter a dish with game meat, a delicious dessert or both at 4 p.m. The cost is $10 per entry. Judging is at 5 p.m. with cash prizes for winning entries. Dinner is at 6 p.m. for a free-will donation – bring a salad, side dish or dessert to share if you would like. BYO favorite adult beverages to have with dinner. • The second annual Harvest Festival for all ages is at the Children’s Discovery Center, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission is $10 per person or $30 per family and that includes two pumpkins, decorations, pumpkin patch photos, face painting, a hay maze and hay slide and more family fun at 454 E. Hennick St., Pinedale. Chili, cider and hot chocolate will be available. All proceeds benefit the Children’s Discovery Center. Visit www.pinedalediscoverycenter.org/.

Tuesday, Oct. 30:

• The Zombie Dash Fun Run is a 2.3-mile run/walk route with a $10 registration fee to benefit the Friends of the Pinedale Aquatic Center. It starts at 5:30 p.m. at the PAC and ends at the Wind River Brewing Company with prizes and drink and dinner specials for all participants. Costumes are definitely encouraged! • The Big Piney Library’s Pumpkin Carving Contest returns from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Pick up a pumpkin before and bring it in finished or carve your jack o’lantern at the library this afternoon. Prizes will be given for the best designs. Open to teens and adults in the Teen Room, 106 S. Fish St.

Wednesday, Oct. 31:

• Bring little ones in their costumes to the family-friendly, free Spook Alley with games and fun from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Pinedale Aquatic Center, 535 N. Tyler Ave.

• “Haunted House” is from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and hosted by the Big Piney Library at the Big Piney Rec Center, 650 Piney Drive. Admission is free; the ghouls in charge ask that kids be 14 or older. The Halloween Carnival, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Big Piney Rec Center, is free and fun for all ages with games and prizes.

• Downtown Pinedale businesses have Halloween Trick or Treat after school from 4 to 6 p.m. Then it’s Safe Trick or Treat Nite for the little goblins and princesses from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Sublette Center, 333 Bridger Ave., Pinedale.

Thursday, Nov. 1:

• The harvest theme could continue with this month’s Not Your Mother’s Book Club dinner meeting. Check out one of their many cookbooks and bring one dish with the recipe to share, 5:30 p.m. at the Big Piney Library.

Monday, Nov. 5:

• If you didn’t get enough frights and thrills over Halloween, come to the Pinedale Fine Arts Council’s presentation of “Frankenstein” by NYC’s Aquila Theater, 7 p.m. at the Pinedale Auditorium. Tickets are $20 for adults, $7 for students. Visit www.pinedalefinearts.com. n
