SUBLETTE COUNTY – The Wyoming Artists’ Association brought back its once annual convention for a long weekend, June 9-11 with stylish European flair for the theme, inspired by da Vinci, Monet and Picasso.

The WAA hadn’t had its annual get-together, usually in May, for several years so past presidents Sharon Schell, Laurie LaMere and Susan Nessan pulled together the very convivial convention at the Sublette County Fairgrounds Event Center.

WAA members from across the state and around the edges submitted a wealth of paintings, graphics and sculptures in a wide range of perspectives and media.

On Friday, June 9, a dozen or so artists participated in the Art Quick Draw, taking an hour to paint a subject of their choice. There were landscapes, wildlife and other inspirations when guest auctioneer Dave Stephens sold some still wet to the touch in the live auction to benefit the nonprofit WAA. The public enthusiastically supported the artists and their cause.
