Another Fly-in for the books
BIG PINEY – Summer finally arrived in Sublette County, sending up bluebird skies and warm temperatures for the 10th annual Fly-in hosted by the Big Piney-Marbleton Airport Joint Powers Board on Saturday, July 15.
The event kicked off with a pancake breakfast at Miley Memorial Field early Saturday morning that was attended by nearly 300 people, said Shelly Brause, representing the Big Piney-Marbleton Airport. The fly-in featured 23 classic cars and motorcycles and a dozen aircraft, Brause added.
The Airport Joint Powers Board teamed up with the Green River Valley Museum in Big Piney to create and display an exhibit on the history of aviation in Sublette County.
Attendees at the fly-in voted to determine the People’s Choice Awards for the best classic cars and motorcycles. John Cunningham took first place for his 1971 Plymouth GTX. Peewee Blair earned second place with a 1957 Chevy. Third place was awarded to Dave Carnes for his 2004 Harley Davidson Road King motorcycle.
