PINEDALE – Four different Pinedale High School seniors were selected to attend the 2021 Session of the American Legion Auxiliary Wyoming Girls State next week from June 6 to 12 at Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne.
Janae Arne, Katie LaBuda, Alena Mika and Emmaline Vrska were all chosen to represent Pinedale at this year’s session.
All of them were chosen for their outstanding achievements within their own school and community. Each are sponsored by Pinedale Unit 47 of the Wyoming American Legion Auxiliary.
Girls State is an annual program designed at practical experience in self-government. It’s commenced all but three years since 1941 and is non-partisan, as well as nonpolitical.
The program emphasizes the importance of government in modern life and educates young women in the duties, privileges, rights and responsibility of American citizenship. It’s aimed to awaken a sincere conviction that a well-informed, intelligent, participating citizenry is vital to protect and preserve American institutions, as well as democracy. These goals are achieved by actual participation in simulated political and governmental practices.
