PINEDALE – Two Pinedale High School (PHS) students from Hannah Horigan’s Photoshop class were recently presented $50 checks for winning a gig poster design contest, which was organized by the Pinedale Fine Arts Council (PFAC) and local graphic design company Boxcar Arts.
Wesley Hathaway took runner up honors while foreign exchange student Sofia Herjevik took the top overall prize. All students designed completely original works themed around an upcoming June 30 concert at Boondocks Pizza featuring Austin, Texas, singer/songwriter David Longoria (Longriver). In all, nine students participated in the contest.
“We were really blown away by how great all the designs were,” said Tim Ruland, PFAC’s marketing director. “Photoshop, and graphic design in general, are so vital to organizations like PFAC. PHS students are really fortunate to have the opportunity to learn what has become a highly sought after skill.”
Ruland, who is also the owner of Boxcar Arts, said both winning poster designs will be printed up and used to promote the June 30 performance. All entries will also on display at Sublette BOCES later this month.
