Kathryn ‘Kathy’ Dell Hout Singey

Aug. 26, 1954 - Sept. 12, 2022

Kathryn “Kathy” Dell Hout Singey, 68, of Louisville, Colo., passed away peacefully in her home on Sept. 12, 2022, with family at her side.
Kathryn was born Aug. 26, 1954, in Cheyenne, Wyo., to William E. and Patricia I. (Hayden) Hout. The family moved to Pinedale in 1957 where she spent the remainder of her childhood and school years, graduating from Pinedale High School in 1972. After working as a teacher’s aid at Pinedale Elementary School, Kathryn went on to the University of Wyoming to obtain her BA in elementary education. She then returned to Pinedale to begin her teaching career. “Kathy” married her high school sweetheart, Donald (Donny) P. Hanson, in 1977. They divorced in 1984 and she moved to Boulder, Colo.
Kathryn spent the better part of her remaining career pursuing her passion of educating children, even in Katmandu, Nepal, where she met her present husband, Tulku Lodro Singey. Although she never had children of her own, Kathryn loved everyone else’s as if they were hers and they adored her!
In her lifelong pursuit of learning, Kathryn obtained an MA in both psychology and education.  She was also a published author, licensed counselor, artist, poet and chef who loved cooking for her family and friends. You knew Kathryn was in the kitchen by the delicious aroma of garlic and savory spices wafting out the front door! She was renowned for enrolling her nieces and nephews as her sous chefs, whether they liked it or not! Kathryn will be remembered for her fiery passion, generosity, tenacity, endless curiosity and creativity (she always made the BEST Halloween costumes) and her delightful sense of humor! She LOVED and had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and the beauty surrounding her. She was a fierce advocate, loyal friend, a beloved wife, sister, daughter and aunt, a dreamer and visionary. She once bought a saddle when she did not yet own a horse! “No” was not in her vocabulary and she had an obsession for endlessly challenging the “status quo,” much to the irritation of family, friends and coworkers! Kathryn was truly heroic in forging through her numerous health challenges over the years and most recently her battle with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. She lived well, she loved well, she fought well and she finished well. “Well done, Kathryn, well done!”
Kathryn is preceded in death by her parents, William E. Hout and Patricia I. Hayden, brother, Jack Brian Hout and her nephew, Randall Tyrone Hout. She is survived by her husband, Tulku Lodro Singey; brother, Bill Hout (Elaine); sister, Virginia (Ginny) Hout-Gibson (Dennis); sister-in-law, Karen Heitzman-Hout (Jack) and numerous beloved nieces, grandnieces and grandnephews.
