Michael Jay Christie, 58, of Big Piney, Wyo., passed away on Oct. 20, 2021, of complications due to COVID-19.

Mike was born on Nov. 15, 1962, in Grand Rapids, Mich., to Albert Jay Christie and May Alice Christie (Morris). He was raised in Wyoming, Mich., where he attended Lee High School and joined the Army just after graduation. He served in the Army from 1981-2001 with the Airborne Rangers. His service took him all over the world, including a combat tour in Desert Storm. Mike’s service to his country and community did not stop with his retirement. He spent many years as a volunteer firefighter in Bryan County, Ga., and was heavily involved with every community he lived in. When searching for the perfect home to enjoy his hobbies of hunting, fishing and shooting, he found his forever home in Wyoming. A lifelong Baptist, he worshiped at the First Baptist Church of Big Piney.

Mike is preceded in death by his father, Albert Jay Christie. He is survived by his partner, Cindy Igou; his sons Michael (Kirsten) Christie II and Zackary Christie; grandchildren, Vivien Christie and Owen Christie; his mother, May Christie; siblings, Todd (Chris) Christie, Tami Christie, and Jodi Bordeaux; and many nieces and nephews.
