Crews from FieldTurf, a subsidiary of the Tarkett Sports Company, prepare the gridiron at Sunny Korfanta Field at Gene Andrews Stadium in Pinedale for a new layer of turf on July 12, in time for the high school fall sports season. Workers are expected to begin laying the 2.25-inch Vertex Prime turf this week, said Vern McAdams, Sublette County School District No. 1 business manager. The project is anticipated to be completed by Aug. 4. SCSD1 trustees approved the project in December. The total price tag to replace the old turf and install a new layer is $667,158, plus a $21,000 maintenance agreement, said McAdams. Funds were earmarked for the project in the budget for the upcoming fiscal year that will be presented to trustees on July 19, he added.
