The Pinedale Town
Council made way for a new campground
for seasonal trailers by rezoning a part of
the Grove Addition from R-2 (residential)
to C-1 (commercial.) The change opens the
way for resident Casey Dauwen to build a
recreational vehicle trailer park along U.S.
Highway 191, skirting Rendezvous Meadows
Golf Course and duplexes on Bogey
Drive and Wilson Street.
Adjacent properties are zoned recreation
services, agriculture, commercial and a few
residential.
The approval was given during the July
8 Pinedale Town Council meeting. Mayor
Matt Murdock and council members Judi
Boyce, John Paravicini, Tyler Swafford
and Dean Loftus were in attendance.
Grove Investments, LLC., applied
for the change to convert 5.43 acres to a
campground that will have between 45
and 54 camping spaces. In his application,
Dauwen said the property is some of the
only residential-zoned property within two
blocks of the town’s main Pine Street.
He said the park would be geared toward
recreational travelers and used during summer
months rather than year-round for workers.
Jen Gilmore from Country Lane Liquors
spoke in favor of the change saying having
an RV park within walking distance would
help her business significantly. “We’re just
sending them to Jackson,” Gilmore said.
Swafford said moving forward with the
dump and fill station and approving an RV
park go “hand in hand,” complementing
each other and promoting the direction the
town is headed.
Plans include building a privacy fence
and planting vegetation to protect neighbors.
Once the zone change is approved, the
issue will still take six weeks and three
readings. During that time, conditions such
as a requirement for paving adjacent streets
could be considered while still moving the
project forward.
In other actions:
• Council members observed a moment
of silence to remember longtime County
Treasurer Roxanna Jensen who died July 4.
• Action was postponed to reschedule
the Nov. 11 council meeting that falls on
a national holiday – Veterans Day. After
several conflicts emerged to move the
meeting to Tuesday, council members
agreed to wait and determine in October if
a meeting is needed.
• Council rejected a bid from Teletractors
to install a dump and fill station.
Teletractors submitted the lone bid for
$306,285, which included a mobilization
fee of $25,000. The proposed dump and fill
station is directly across the street from the
company’s main business facility.
Murdock said the high price sends the
message that it is not a project that Teletractors
is wanting to do, but they will if
the price is high enough.
The council agreed to rebid the project
in late 2019 for completion by June of
2020.
• Council accepted a bid of $74,550
from Teletractors for repairs to Cole and
Wilson streets. Again the sole bidder, Murdock
said the price is in the high range but
the mobilization fee for the project was
only $6,500. The project should be completed
in October.
• The council approved a bid from JCB
Underground to add as much as 665 feet of
irrigation and sprinklers along sections of
Pine Street as part of a beautification project.
Two other bidders submitted higher
quotes. Murdock said the company was
willing to do the work without mobilization
fees because it is already working in
the area with Union installing cable for
fiber.
• The council authorized a grant application
for Abandoned Mine Lands funds
to repair the town’s sewer lagoon for
$957,000. The town proposed a 15 percent
match from 2020-2021 fiscal year funds.
