Glaciers host Sheridan and Gillette

PINEDALE – Winter weather over the weekend did not prevent the Sheridan and Gillette hockey teams from traveling to Pinedale to square off against the Glaciers’ 19U girls’ team and 18U high school team.

The 19U team celebrated Senior Night on Saturday, Jan. 28, honoring Lexi Harper, Molly Murphy and Kylynn Martin.

The girls’ team fell to Sheridan, 5-1, on Saturday. Pinedale made a comeback in the third periods of the rematch on Sunday morning, nearly closing the gap. Sheridan maintained the lead by a single point for the win, 3-2.

The 18U team scored a big win against Gillette, 3-2, on Saturday evening. The game on Sunday remained close until Gillette pulled ahead for the win, 4-3.

19U

The first period of the game against Sheridan on Saturday ended in a 1-1 tie. Molly Murphy scored for Pinedale, assisted by Erica Seehafer. Sheridan outmaneuvered Pinedale in the second and third period for the win, 5-1.

Martin played goalie for Pinedale on Saturday evening, tallying 40 saves.

Sheridan led, 3-0, by the beginning of the third period during the rematch on Sunday morning. Pinedale battled back in the third period, outscoring Sheridan, 2-0.

Makenzi Reddon scored the first goal for the Glaciers, off a play by Seren Noble. Murphy shot the puck into the net next, assisted by Amelia Gaffney.

Aringtyn Huffman served as goalie on Sunday morning and made 37 saves.

18U

Pinedale scored 1 point in the first period against Gillette on Saturday. A strong Glacier defense prevented Gillette from scoring.

Mason Currah made the goal for Pinedale, assisted by Tyler Currah.

The second period ended in a 1-1 tie. Christian Sosa Sanchez scored on a power play, assisted by Yates Garcilaso-Huffman.

Pinedale remained ahead by a point following a 1-1 stalemate in the third period. Sosa Sanchez scored a second goal, assisted by Tyler Currah.

Tyson Ramirez stepped up as goalie on Saturday, posting 22 saves.

The first period of the rematch on Sunday remained scoreless.

Pinedale matched Gillette in scoring, 1-1, in the second period. Sosa Sanchez shot the puck into the net, assisted by Waylon Williams and Cayden Christensen.

Gillette managed to outscore the Glaciers, 3-2, in a close third period. Christensen scored a goal on a power play, assisted by Tyler Currah. Sosa Sanchez made a goal off a play by Tyler Currah and Randal Reddon.

Shea Rogge played goalie and tallied 19 saves on Sunday.
