Glaciers fall in showdowns with Gillette

PINEDALE – The Pinedale Glaciers 18U high school team squared off against Gillette at the Sublette County Ice Arena on Dec. 11-12. The 19U girls’ team had a bye week.

Gillette dominated the ice, continuing its winning streak with two victories against Pinedale – 9-1 on Saturday and 9-2 on Sunday.

Gillette established a commanding lead in the first two periods of Saturday’s game, outscoring Pinedale, 7-0.

The Glaciers found their footing in the third period with a tighter defense holding Gillette to two goals. Pinedale scored its only point when Jon Bredal shot the puck into the net unassisted.

Gabe Person played goalie for the Glaciers and caught 23 saves.

Gillette carried its momentum into the first period on Sunday morning, scoring three goals and leaving Pinedale scoreless.

The second period ended with Gillette ahead, 7-1. Bredal scored for Pinedale, assisted by Jayden Currah.

Gillette continued on the path to victory in the third period, outscoring the Glaciers, 2-1.

Cayden Christensen slammed the puck into the net for Pinedale unassisted.

Person served again as goalie, tallying 27 saves.

The 18U team hosts Douglas on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 18-19. The 19U girls’ team hits the road to take on Gillette in the Cam-plex.
