CASPER – The Glaciers’ 18U hockey team skated into second place in the “A” division at the 2021 Wyoming Amateur Hockey League’s State Tournament hosted by Casper on Feb. 27 and 28.

Pinedale scored victories against Jackson in the first two matches, advancing to the championship game against Gillette. A close, physical battle on the ice ended with Gillette pulling out the win by a single point, 3-2.

Round one pitted Pinedale against Jackson’s JV squad. Jackson scored the lone goal during the first period. The Glaciers answered back in the second period with a goal from Kolin Krizan, assisted by Colby White.

Micah Crum swept in with a goal in the third period. Jackson scored again to tie the match, 2-2, forcing the game into overtime. Both teams were unable to get the puck into the net in overtime, resulting in a shootout. Jackson missed its final shot during the shootout while Jayden Currah scored the eighth goal for the Glaciers, resulting in a 3-2 win for Pinedale.

Kellen Schupp served as Pinedale’s goalie and tallied 16 saves against Jackson.

The Glaciers dominated the second game, trouncing Jackson’s varsity squad, 5-1. Pinedale outscored its opponent, 2-1, in the first period. Logan Marroquin, assisted by Landon Wharton and Crum, shot in the Glaciers’ first goal. Crum followed up with a shot into the net off an assist by White and Currah.
