Geldings step up for sale

SUBLETTE COUNTY – The county’s 2022 Western Wyoming Select Gelding Sale, always on June’s second Saturday at the Sublette County Fairgrounds, seems to get bigger every year with return buyers and consignors recognizing it as a quality auction. About 65 horses were consigned to the June 11 sale. The night before was the annual ranch rodeo, prospective buyers could see consigned horses put through their paces.

Western Wyoming Auctions Todd Stevie reported numbers after the dust settled.

  • 62 horses consigned, from yearlings to experienced ranch horses..
  • 42 horses sold for an average of $13,400.
  • Top sellers: Mike and Tara Miller of Miller Land & Livestock’s Lot 53 and Chance Bernall of Dillon, Montana’s Lot 29 each sold for $24,000.
  • There were higher bids but the consignors declined them.
