PINEDALE – Available for the sixth year, free lunches are served Tuesdays, Wednesdays
and Thursdays from noon to 12:45 p.m. at the Pinedale Community Church, 113 S. Maybell
Ave.
The church joined forces with St. Andrew’s in the Pines Episcopal Church and Our Lady of
Peace Catholic Church to open the doors and provide nutritious meals throughout the summer.
The doors are open to everyone, regardless of religion or age, according to the Rev. Carol
White.
Initially funded by a grant to open for one year, organizers were able to keep the doors open
for two summers. A second grant has helped fund the program for an additional four years.
White said, the church located across from the library provides a convenient location for
teens and youth to get a midday meal during the summers.
She said dozens are served each day and parents often join their children for the meals.
