Pinedale High School art teacher Katie Facklam, center, received the Sublette County School District No. 1 Teacher of the Year award on Thursday, March 23. PHS students, staff, parents and community members nominated Facklam for the honor. Also pictured are SCSD1 Superintendent Shannon Harris, left, and PHS Principal Brian Brisko, right. ‘Ms. Facklam is all about kids,’ said Brisko. ‘She does a phenomenal job getting kids to produce great art. Ms. Facklam doesn’t just teach art concepts, though. She teaches life concepts.’ Facklam spends significant time after school tutoring students, hosting art studios and helping students with scholarships, Brisko added. ‘Ms. Facklam does so many things outside of the classroom to help kids grow,’ he continued. Facklam will represent SCSD1 in the 2024 Wyoming Teacher of the Year competition.
