Dear editor,

Change on Pine Ridge Reservation donations. Alice Phelps and her husband were on their way from southwest South Dakota Friday to pick up the third load and meet our people. Last night, her husband’s brother was shot. He is in serious condition.
They are not coming this weekend.
We will still collect donations from noon to 3 p.m. on Friday and from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Johnson shop. We live at 51 Par Ave., on the southwest edge of Pinedale, but drive a short distance south to Granite Lane. Go east a couple of hundred yards, turn left and come in the back way to our yellow metal shop.

So what do we need?
Winter stuff, like warm coats, blankets and heavy clothes; shoes, boots, rubber boots, mittens, warm caps and socks; kids’ clothes, toys and games; kitchen stuff and small appliances; tools of any kind, including power tools; shovels and snow shovels; sleeping bags, pillows and air mattresses; bicycles, but only if they are ready to go. Boxes are good but so are garbage bags if they are not too heavy. Please label them!
We will do our best to deliver everything as soon as possible.
Alice said she wants to reschedule coming to Pinedale.

Thanks,

Bill Johnson, Pinedale
