A couple who
worked at Boulder Lake Lodge as manager
and outfitter was let go after eight months
now face felony charges of theft and horse
rustling that allegedly occurred between being
hired and fired.
Katherine A. Entsminger was hired in
September 2017 at Boulder Lake Lodge and
became manager in January 2018, hiring her
boyfriend Thomas W. Hickman to also work
there, according to court records. They were
fired and the owner asked a security firm from
Jackson to be on hand Aug. 8, 2018, “for a
peaceful dismissal,” records show.
On Dec. 3, Entsminger was charged with
two counts of felony theft of more than $1,000
in value. She is also charged with two felony
counts of rustling.
She allegedly used a Boulder Lake Lodge
debit card and account from November 2017
through May 2018 to buy chocolates, clothing,
jewelry, furnishings, cosmetics, toys and
other items shipped to herself or others’ addresses
in Iowa or Michigan, records show.
In April 2018, Entsminger also used
Boulder Lake Lodge accounts to buy two
registered quarter horse mares at Billings
Livestock auctions and registered herself as
the owner, according to court records.
When they were fired on Aug. 8, 2018, she
and Hickman allegedly took multiple saddles,
tack, household goods, a large-screen
TV, electronics and other items from Boulder
Lake Lodge to a private residence in Sublette
County and also made arrangements to board
the two horses with a local landowner.
Hickman is charged with one felony count
of theft and two of rustling.
Then on Aug. 11, 2018, the couple gathered
some of the property at the private residence
and left Wyoming; they have not
returned, according to Detective Travis Lanning.
They also took the two horses, records
show. What they left behind is valued at more
than $1,000; it is “unknown” what all was
taken from Boulder Lake Lodge, the affidavit
says.
At press time, Entsminger and Hickman
had not been served.
