County appeal dismissed for untimely filing

The Sublette County Board of Equalization

dismissed an appeal because the property owner failed

to meet state mandated guidelines.

Property assessments went out April 17. Property owners

have 30 days to review and file an appeal. Property owner

Scott Murdock filed his appeal June 13, requesting his airplane

be exempt because it is not used for conducting business.

That is an exemption that must be applied for annually.

The board, which is comprised of the five county commissioners,

voted to dismiss the appeal, based on the untimely


The board also voted to accept Sharon Rose as the hearing

administrator to represent them during the upcoming Aug.

19 and Aug. 20 appeals hearings for oil and gas companies.

While eight companies protesting the depreciation

method on used to establish values for older equipment will

have attorneys, Sublette County Assessor Jeness Saxton

will be represented by the Sublette County Attorney’s Office.

Rose will represent the Board of Equalization during

the process.
