PINEDALE – A pair of Pinedale brothers both qualified for the National Christian College Athletic Association Championship track meet, which was held at Greenville University in Greenville, Illinois, last month.
Nathan and Aaron Stewart, from Pinedale, both compete at Bob Jones University in South Carolina.
Nathan qualified in the 10,000-meter race and finished 10th overall. A senior health sciences major, Nathan completed the 10k in 34 minutes, 17.67 seconds – less than 3 minutes shy of the national champion.
Aaron qualified for the national meet in both the long jump and the triple jump. A freshman kinesiology major, Aaron finished ninth in the triple jump with a best attempt of 41 feet, 1 inch, and finished 11th in the long jump with a best attempt of 19 feet, 4 ¾ inches. His triple jump fell 5 feet, 6 ¼ inch behind the national champion and his long jump leap fell shy of the winner by 3 feet, 11 ¾ inches.
