Bridger Jeffrey Smith, 16, passed away
on Dec. 13, in a tragic accident in Scottsdale,
Ariz., where he was living at the time. He was
born in Rock Springs on April 15, 2003.
Bridger was the son and best friend of
Janelle and Austin Smith, of Big Piney, and
big brother and role model to four younger
sisters Haddy, Piper, Kooper and Kelty.
Bridger attended school online so that he
could pursue his hockey dreams. He was
only a junior, but extremely talented on and
off of the ice. He started playing hockey at
a very young age and continued to play on
a variety of teams such as the Big Piney Vipers,
Pinedale Glaciers, Utah Jr. Grizzlies,
Jackson Hole Summit Selects, Ogden Jr.
Mustangs, Boulder Bison, Rocky Mountain
Rough Riders, Colorado Thunderbirds, Madison
Capitols, LA Jr. Kings and the Phoenix
Jr. Coyotes. He was also chosen for several
select teams.
Besides hockey, he had a love for traveling, exploring the world, food, fast cars and learning
new things. Hockey allowed him to travel all over and explore new things. Because of this,
people all over the world were blessed by his big grin and thoughtful heart.
In addition to his parents and sisters, he is survived by great-grandmother Bettie Coles; his
grandfather Ace Smith; grandmother Sallie Waters; aunts Cameo (Shawn) Langley, Whitney
(Damon) Gehlhausen and Alisha (Austin) Moore; and seven cousins. He was preceded in death
by grandmother Jessie Smith and one uncle.
A funeral service will be conducted Friday, Dec. 27, at the Southwest Sublette Pioneer Senior
Center, 429 E. First St., Marbleton.
Viewing will begin at 9 a.m. with services at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Plainview Cemetery
immediately following services. All are invited to a meal, visiting and memory-sharing
back at the Senior Center following the cemetery services.
