Bridge inspections likely to cause delays

Posted

WYOMING – The Wyoming Department of Transportation will be conducting bridge inspections on two bridges in Teton County next month.

Through contracted inspections with Consor Engineering, the bridge over Snake River on U.S. Highway 26/89 south of Hoback Junction in the Snake River Canyon will take place on May 9 and 10. Crews will then inspect Snake River Bridge on Wyoming Highway 22 from May 11 through May 13. A release from WYDOT specifies traffic operations on the bridge will be impacted from 6:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. but crews will be present during daytime hours as well.

“To perform the work, crews will be mobilizing a snooper truck, pick-up trucks and other equipment onto the bridge decks,” a release from WYDOT specified. “These trucks will take up a single lane, reducing traffic to one lane over the bridge. Motorists will be flagged across the bridge in alternating discussions. Crews are expecting delays of up to 15 minutes, but delays could vary with traffic congestion.”

Crews hope to limit the work to one or two nights but may be working throughout the evenings during the week, pending weather conditions and other issues.

Be prepared for delays on both bridges during that week.
