A single-family home in
the Barger subdivision was seriously damaged
in a fire on the afternoon of Tuesday,
Jan. 22.
A call came in at 3:49 p.m. for Sublette
County Unified Fire to respond to the
house fire at 154 Meadowlark Lane. The
road was closed temporarily by the Sublette
County Sheriff’s Office while firefighters
from Battalions 1, 2, 4 and 6 set up
apparatus and support equipment.
SCUF Information Officer Mike Petty
said a shuttle was set up to fill water tankers
from high-pressured hydrants on Mill
Street in Pinedale and drive them to the
fire.
Flames were visible from a second-floor
attic as they responded and they were able
to limit the fire to the second floor and roof.
There are no working fire hydrants in
the subdivision but there is a plan to install
them, Petty said. A narrow road, wintertime
conditions such as deep now and
below-freezing temperatures all worked to
limit access to the scene, he said.
“Once the fire was suppressed, overhaul
and cleanup operations continued into the
night,” Petty said in a release.
No one was home and no one was injured.
The cause of the fire is still under
investigation.
