SUBLETTE COUNTY — Chett Logan Whitman is scheduled to be arraigned in 9th District Court Thursday, Oct. 27. Whitman, 25, is charged with aggravated assault and battery after he allegedly beat Chris Meeks, of Daniel, and left him unconscious behind the Cowboy Bar in Pinedale on July 9.
Meeks was life-flighted to an out-of-state trauma facility and a fundraiser to cover the costs of his medical expenses is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 23 from noon to 6 p.m. at the Sublette County Fairgrounds.
Whitman’s preliminary hearing in Sublette County Circuit Court was continued from Aug. 24 to Sept. 19, “to give the defense more time,” before the Eden, Wyo., resident ultimately waived his right to such a hearing on Sept. 16.
Whitman’s arraignment is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. on Oct. 27.
Criminal charges are often dropped or reduced and Whitman is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in a court of law.
