The Pinedale High School varsity boys’ team placed third in both the giant slalom competition on Thursday and the slalom races on Friday. The varsity girls’ team took sixth place on Thursday and again on Friday.

Alpine skiers shred the slopes at Hogadon

CASPER – The Wyoming high school alpine ski season entered the second weekend of competition with the Bruce Studer Invitational hosted by Kelly Walsh High School at Hogadon Basin Ski Area on Casper Mountain, Thursday and Friday, Jan. 19-20.

The Pinedale High School varsity boys’ team placed third in both the giant slalom competition on Thursday and the slalom races on Friday. The varsity girls’ team took sixth place on Thursday and again on Friday.

Sophomores James Tolson and Joe Boylan broke into the top 10 in boys’ varsity slalom skiing on Friday. Tolson achieved eighth place, timing both runs in at 1 minute, 39.48 seconds. Boylan came in close on Tolson’s heels with a 10th-place finish at 1:40.66.

Giant slalom results

Senior Sydney Wise led the Pinedale pack in girls’ varsity, finishing in 16th place with a combined time of 1:21.66.

Sophomore Nora Broadhead came in 17th place at 1:22.39. Eleanor Tolson earned 20th place at 1:25.70 with Aubrey Bryan-Summer in 22nd place at 1:29.95.

James Tolson bagged 12th place in boys’ varsity giant slalom, timing both runs in at 1:12.76. Dune Mecartney took 14th place, clocking in at 1:15.73. Sophomore Destin Williams placed 15th at 1:16.10, with Tristan Robertson in 19th place at 1:20.93 and Boylan in 25th place at 1:24.73.

In junior varsity girls’ giant slalom, junior Kemmer Clause placed seventh at 1:29.95. Senior Ceili Fallon came in 10th place at 1:34.67 and sophomore Aarika Smith finished 11th at 1:34.90.

Junior Connor Crockett secured ninth place in boys’ junior varsity on Thursday with a time of 1:20.59. Junior Garrett Short placed 13th at 1:26.55 with freshman Garrett Saunders in 14th place at 1:29.69, senior Kaden Chatterton in 15th at 1:30.18 and junior Wyatt Griffin in 19th at 1:34.74.

Slalom results

Bryan-Summer took 17th place in girls’ varsity slalom, posting an overall time of 2:02.86. Wise came in 18th place at 2:05.13, followed by Broadhead in 20th place at 2:09.61 and Eleanor Tolson in 21st at 2:11.50.

Williams scooped up 17th place in boys’ varsity slalom with a time of 1:48.54. Mecartney took 18th place at 1:50.29 with Robertson in 25th place at 2:04.86.

Smith finished eighth in girls’ junior varsity at 2:20.54 with Fallon in ninth place at 2:21.34. Saunders placed ninth in boys’ junior varsity at 1:54.19.
