PINEDALE – Members of the Sublette County School District No. 1 (SCSD#1) met March 9 for a regular monthly meeting that featured a legislature update from House District #20 Rep. Albert Sommers, along with lead information from Jorgensen Engineering’s Pinedale Branch Manager Brian Gray.
Early in the meeting, Sommers gave the trustees an end-of-session summary to keep the district informed with what occurred in the most recent session. Two bills related to education this session included 2017 House Bill 236 and 2017 House Bill 58 that impact school finance and school capital construction funding.
Sommers said that going into the legislative session they were looking at a $400 million deficit in education by 2022, using the current funding model.
“I think the House at least tried to take a comprehensive approach to a solution, which was HB 236 – which basically broke it up into five $80 million dollar parts to try to solve the problem,” said Sommers.
