PINEDALE – The Pinedale Town Council voted to renew the contract with resident Jeff Goltz to manage the campground this summer at Jackson Avenue Park in Pinedale, in addition to the approval of a few planned improvements.
The 5-acre former KOA Campground was purchased in 2015 with no definitive plans for its purpose. It was decided last year that a portion of it would be dedicated to dry camping, after an ongoing need was expressed by travelers to locals in the outdoor industry. Late last year, the council also decided to add a ball field on the southern end of the lot.
As part of the remediation of the property, the old buildings were torn down and the sprinkler system removed, which left tinder-dry grass and a parched landscape.
This year, one of Goltz’s top priorities for improvement is getting “water to trees and grass this year.”
According to mayor Bob Jones, the town is also going to “level that dirt off” on the southern and eastern border of the property, which was initially stored at the site to be used for a path project elsewhere. The For the complete article see the 03-17-2017 issue.
